Faris is a Djinn with a secret and Marielle the first master to give him hope. Will she be the one to break his curse? There is no telling. All he really knows is she's ONE WISH AWAY from breaking his heart.

When Marielle was little, she used to believe Grandpa about his wish-granting Djinn. But now that she’s older, her beliefs have changed, and things like lousy ex-boyfriends and alcoholic fathers have become her reality.

Life isn’t done shattering her truths, though, and when Grandpa dies and the Djinn he warned her never to trust shows up at her doorstep, the world becomes a dangerous, magical place she never knew existed. Reeling for her once-normal life, Marielle soon realizes there’s no going back—not when she’s become part of a mortal conflict between two spell-bound Djinn. Faris—her handsome slave. And Zet—his vengeance-hungry brother. They both want something from her. One, her love. The other one, her life.

Now she’s afraid she will die in love.

One Wish Away is a young adult paranormal romance that will appeal to lovers of Hush Hush, Twilight, and the Fallen series.

One Wish Away Djinn Empire Volume 1 Ingrid Seymour Books

One Wish Away was one of those books you want to read twice so you can enjoy all the mysteries that kept you on your toes on the first read. I was constantly at the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was happening around Marielle. The characters are well developed and feel like real people, especially Marielle and Faris. As a Heroine, Marielle is great. I enjoyed her strength, independence and her desire to do the right thing, even when life hasn’t necessarily done the right thing by her. The romance between her and Faris was sweet and realistic. Things developed at a natural pace, not in a rush. I also enjoyed Marielle’s relationship with Maven, Javier, and Abby. The Djinn mythology and redefinition was very interesting and well done in my opinion. It was all very nicely done and I give it five stars.

One Wish Away Djinn Empire Volume 1 Ingrid Seymour Books Reviews

This book was a delightful mix of human emotions, romance, a bit of intrigue and cleanly written even though it had some unsavory plots.
When I put it down I soon realized I was hooked.
Oh how I love Genie books! this books was very good with some different twists I didn't expect. Not all genie are bad or good. I really enjoyed Marielle and Faris's relationship and how it grew in the book. I am curious where the next book is going to go. I think I will have to continue with this series. I am glad I found it!
The story of a young woman, who inherits a djinn from her grandfather. She wants to trust the djinn, feels sorry for him, but struggles with the warning her grandfather had given her not to ever trust a djinn...
It is a story worhty of Arabian Nights, but with a modern twist, well written and with some side-line stories which create the feeling of a classical Arabian Night story, a story of good and evil, and a story of hope.
I had received a copy from a friend and I am glad that she passed it on to me. A great story that I can only recommend to read.
I had posted about looking for books about Djinn. This was one of the books that popped up on the list. I took a chance thinking it sounded interesting and enjoyed what I read. I will admit for a while I was highly annoyed with Marielle. She acted like everything was stacked against her and never wanted to let go of her past. As the story progressed I understood why she was the way she was. I fell in love with Faris because his character is great! I'm really hoping there will be a second book, and I'll be ok if there will truly only be one. I would love to see more of Faris and a Marielle. To see what has become of Zed, plus to also see if Akeelah will try to get revenge!
There are a few subjects I really wish were more commonly tackled by authors of fiction. Of those, djinn, or genies, are one of the top contenders (along with kickass pirates, but that's unrelated), so I will say I dove into this book already biased. That said, I still found this to be an enjoyable casual read. The plot, while nothing incredibly thrilling or new, was still interesting in my opinion. The story was formed around a worn out cliche that I didn't care much for, even making me groan and roll my eyes. However, I managed to look past the tired device after I fell in love with the protagonist and her endearingly charming djinn (I'll admit I can be pretty easy to win over). I also appreciated the small alterations in this djinn world that made it separate and distinct from other stories containing genies and I am excited to see how the author will further expand upon this world. One issue I did have with this book, besides the cliched plot device I mentioned earlier, is that I feel the technical execution of this book wasn't always entirely there. I often found myself having to re-read passages because I felt confused as to what exactly was going on, especially when things would start heating up. In a book containing magical and supernatural elements, I found it frustrating when I was unable to fully form a clear picture in my mind. This is a book I would recommend to anyone who is as into djinn/genies and magic as I am and who doesn't mind a casual read with a bit of romance.
I received a free copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

A really fun read. I want my own Djinn. Maybe when I read the rest of the series of books I will know how to get one. But, since it seems Marielle isn’t inclined to make that last wish, I have to wait for a while. Pick up this book to find out what is going on. You won’t regret it. It’s the first book about Djinn I have read, and with Ms. Seymour’s talent for prose, I certainly intend to read more.
The poorly constructed love triangle? The dense hateful main character? The lack of true feeling on anyone's part? Oh where, oh where to start. Take every trope in YA and regurgitate it into a novel then hint at a series that doesn't need to exist. If you were going to do a series continue it from the best friends pov and give her a romance--the supernatural subplot could have been taken care of that way. So, sorry but next.
